The goal is to train hitters to consistently drive both fastballs and breaking balls to the opposite field while staying on the inner half of the baseball.
By working on this approach, hitters learn to stay inside the ball, maintain their direction through contact, and develop the ability to drive pitches into the opposite-field gaps.
Marks emphasizes that hitting opposite field isn't just about making contact or taking an outside pitch the other way. It's about developing the ability to hit doubles and home runs to the deepest parts of the field.
This drill is a great addition to batting practice for hitters looking to improve their approach, develop opposite-field power, and become more complete offensive players.
